Nightlife in Paris

Paris is also called the City of Lights – and not without reason! As a city that never sleeps, there are inviting nightlife offers to be found throughout the week. Here is a short overview of things to do at night during your visit in Paris.

Nightlife Venues in Paris

Many Parisians love to hang out on the river banks of the River Seine, enjoying some wine or having a picnic. But if you prefer something out on the town, you can find all sorts of nightlife venues all over the metropole. Restaurants, various kinds of bars and pubs, clubs, cinemas, theaters… Paris has a lot to offer!

Paris in the Rain, nightlife in Paris

Certainly, everybody has already heard of the Moulin Rouge. But have you heard of the other cabarets such as the Lido or The Crazy Horse? Are you ready for a glamourous night out – full of sensuality and elegance?

nightlife in paris, discothequeCabaret is not the only type of nightlife in Paris. There are a lot of well-known and rather posh clubs in Paris such as the Palais Maillot, which is known for its legendary after-work parties. Especially in summer, we recommend enjoying your night in Paris in one of the marvelous rooftop bars like at Hotel Raphael in the 16th arrondissement. You can choose a club or restaurant with a terrace as well – Wanderlust, Nuba or La Bellevilloise, to name a few.

Why not spend a night on a boat on the River Seine? For example, The Flow combines a restaurant, bar and club all opening at midnight. While this might not be the cheapest venue in Paris, it is certainly worth a visit.

If you are interested in Latin dancing, the river banks of the Seine are the place to go! You can find salsa events taking place at Tino Rossi Garden, a park on the river bank near Notre Dame Cathedral. For colder days, you can also enjoy Latin music in some clubs like L’International (5th arrondissement).

Popular Districts

Do you prefer to discover nightlife in Paris on your own? Here are some neighborhoods that you should check out.

Certainly, there are popular nightlife venues all over the city, but each neighborhood has its own specific style. St.-Germain-des-Prés and St.-Michel are known for their jazz clubs, whereas posh and very trendy clubs like L’Arc or the Matignon find themselves around avenue Champs-Élysées.nightlife in paris, bars

Since it has always been a lively students’ district, the Latin Quarter has a lot of restaurants and bars to offer – for those with a medium or low budget, too. Le Marais is also worth a try as this neighborhood is enthralling with its many charming bars.

Don’t underestimate the east of Paris! The 20th arrondissement – Belleville & Ménilmontant – as well as Oberkampf, Bastille and Canal-St.-Martin offer plenty of fashionable bars and clubs for young people such as the Comptoir Général or the Favela Chic.

nightlife in paris, night busHow to get Home

Before going out, please take note that the metros stop running from 01:00 to 05:00. There are several options of getting back home. Besides calling a taxi, you can use the night busses (Noctiliens). They run from 00:30 to 05:30. Please research the night bus service of the local transport company RATP beforehand. If you haven’t had too much to drink, you can rent a bicycle at a Velib’ station.

nightlife in paris, happy hour

Here is some advice which could help you checking out the nightlife in Paris.

In some of the clubs, especially the trendy ones, you should make a reservation beforehand. You might be refused if you don’t. So just call in advance and make sure you won’t find yourself in front of closed doors.

Would you rather spend your night in a pub or a bar but you don’t want to spend too much money? No problem! A great number of them offer happy hour, take advantage!

The center of Paris is a rather safe place since there are always people in the streets and on the subways, day and night. But, don’t forget that this Paris is still a big city! As usual, you should always avoid going out alone at night. If possible, take at least one or two friends with you. Keep an eye on each other and on your belongings. Always avoid suspicious people and walk on the well-light side of the street to stay on the safe side.

Stay safe while joining the fun!

Signature Bar by Grant’s

If you are interested in Paris nightlife, but looking for something other than discotheques and nightclubs, than Signature Bar by Grant’s is the place for you. With its stylish decor and casual feel, Signature Bar by Grant’s creates a perfect balance between fan and fancy.

The Ambiance

The entry way is large and reminiscent of the days when horse-drawn carriages were the primary mode of transportation. As soon as you enter the building, you walk into a large room, decorated like a classic French garden.

The sheer size of the venue is not evident before entry, but in fact it included two floors, multiple different rooms, terraces, and even an area for live music.

This central “French garden” room is open to smokers, yet didn’t feel suffocating like usual French “smoking rooms”, due to the fact that there was no ceiling, much like an atrium.

The Decor

When we arrived on the day of the opening the decor was extremely stylish, with 5 artistic themes that were place in various rooms throughout the building. These themes included “On the Road” which was illustrated by the motorcycles, side cars, and even workers placed around to take the customers pictures.

Another theme that was evident in Signature Bar by Grant’s was called “L S’tnarg”, and was represented by the tables and chairs that were glued to the ceiling. It was as if you could have walked up the walls and sat upside-down, they were so casually assembled.

Upon entering Signature Bar by Grant’s in Paris, it is clear why it was necessary for us to make a reservation ahead of time. This place is definitely one cool bar to visit in Paris.

Located not far from the Gare-du-Nord, at 159 Quai de Valmy 75010 Paris. It’s right next to the Seine River, making it easy to get to using public transportation.

After arriving at 8 p.m. , the bar and building was already filled with people looking to enjoy the live music and sublime ambiance.

Things to Keep in Mind

  •  The lines to go upstairs, however, were extremely long and to avoid exceeding maximum capacity on the balconies. So get there early before the crowds start rolling in.
  • The security was very affective, but there was no evident place to check your jacket or coat. If you have one, be sure to keep it with you, as pickpockets are everywhere in Paris.
  • There is a cover fee, and reservations are sometimes required. Be sure to call ahead of time to make sure, it would be a shame to be turned away from this awesome bar.
