Paris Champagne tour
When thinking of Champagne, one usually thinks of bubbles, parties, and overall, sweet euphoria… The discovery of the Champagne region and its wine patrimony can take several paths. Of course, all of the great houses of Champagne, such as Veuve Clicquot, Ruinart, Dom Pérignon, Taittinger or Mumm, offer exclusive visits of their cellars, which often include the tasting of famous vintages.Entrance of the domain Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin in Reims
But a Paris champagne tour has much more to offer than just the discovery of the famous houses, as the tour would not be complete without the visit to one or several estates of the local champagne producers. The route that leads from Reims to Epernay is filled with numerous estates of local producers of champagne that all offer exciting tours!Grapes fields on the Champagne road from Reims to Epernay after the harvest
Visit of a traditional local producer estate in Champagne
Among them, the Daniel Dumont estate invites you to an authentic discovery of the Champagne patrimony. The estate, which stretches over 10 hectares and produces 90,000 bottles a year, is a family business that has been sequentially handed down from father to son since 1870. The visit (offered in French or English, only in small groups and with reservation) is always guided by one of the growers from the family, so he knows perfectly what he is talking about and can answer all your questions!Cellar at 25 meters beneath the earth
From the explanation of the hand picking technique, to the visit of the tanks and the magnificent cellars 25 meters underground, the tour is fascinating. Not to forget of course the final tasting that allows you to discover the different grapes used on the estate. And as is often the case with local champagne producers, the production is only sold directly at the estate or on their own website, which means you will not find their bottles outside the winery. So make sure to grab a bottle on your way out!Champagne tasting From the Fillette to the Nabuchodonosor… Cheers!
