You will leave from Paris by train in the morning, and you will arrive to Rouen in about an hour and a half. The trip starts with the visit of Rouen’s Museum of Fine Arts, where masterpieces from the 15th century to the present day are conserved.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy an audio-guided tour of Rouen’s city center and its main attractions: Notre-Dame cathedral, Saint-Maclou church, the Gros Horloge, the Normandy Parliament, the Hôtel de Bourgtheroulde, Saint-Joan of Arc’s church and Place du Vieux Marché. After the visit, you will be guided through the Historial Joan of Arc, heroine who played a major role fighting against English domination during the Hundred years’ war.
Then, you will take a train to Bayeux, where you will spend the night.
In the morning, go meet our guide directly in the center of Bayeux. Then, set off for the day in a mini-van to experience a piece of History!
Your English-speaking guide will explain the significance of small towns such as Carentan, in between Utah and Omaha beaches, where the American paratroopers landed many years ago.
Then you will stop for lunch either in a historic “café” (for those visiting from March to October) or in a traditional coffee shop in Bayeux.
After lunch, you will continue the tour by visiting Sainte-Mère-Église and the main route that both the American and German troops alike utilized to transport their equipment. Shortly after, you will see Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach, where many American troops arrived via boat. To end the tour, you will visit the Normandy American Cemetery and the adjacent visitor center that will provide the historical context of the region.
Then, you will be driven back to Bayeux, where you will have dinner and stay overnight.
You will leave from Bayeaux to Mont-Saint Michel, a fortificated island located about one km off the coast, seat of the Abbey Mont-Saint-Michel.
Your personal guide will explain the history of the small village and the importance of the Abbey. You will be guided through the narrow streets and in just minutes you will reach the magnificent Abbey, the icon of the island. There, you will visit the breathtaking naves and all the different parts of the church (including the terrace, the cloister, the crypt and the refectory). Later, you will have lunch in a traditional restaurant within the medieval village, where you can go in the afternoon to do some shopping and visit some small museums.
After lunch, you will continue the tour by visiting the bay with your personal guide. There, you will have the possibility to relax. Take as many pictures as you can and enjoy the amazing view!
Later, you will head back to Paris by train.
