Your day trip to the famed Champagne region of France will start in the morning with a train leaving from Paris for the Reims central station. Once you arrive at the Reims train station, your guide will pick you up. First up on your day program is a visit to a producer of “Grand Cru”, either in Reims or in Épernay. This designation is given to vineyards with great reputations for producing wine. Learn all about the production of this special wine.
Next up is a break for lunch at a lovely restaurant. Lunch will include a 3-course meal, 2 glasses of wine, as well as coffee. After eating some of France’s delicious food, you’ll move on to visit Hautvillers’ church where the monk Dom Pérignon is buried. This monk is known for his important contributions to the production of quality of champagne wine. Of course the famous champagne brand, Dom Pérignon, is named after this French monk.
Next up you will visit two local producers where you will be shown and taught about the different stages of the production of champagne. Only the sparkling wine produced in this particular region in France can legally be labelled as “champagne”. A few tastings will follow these visits.
Lastly, after a wonderful day of wine tastings you’ll take the train back from Reims to Paris.
*Note: exact producers subject to change due to availability and hours of each vineyard/wine house*
