The Top 10 Things To Do In Paris With Teenagers

Going to Paris with your family? Stressed about organizing a trip that makes everyone happy? It can feel impossible to please your teenage kids. Luckily, we have compiled a list of the top 10 things to do in Paris with teenagers.

The Top 10 Things To Do In Paris With Teenagers

For Art Lovers

The Musée D’Orsay

The Musée d’Orsay is located in the former Gare d’Orsay railway station. Personally, it is my favorite museum in Paris and I truly believe that it is a lust see. It houses the largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces in the world, as well as a collection of beautiful sculptures. Plus, your teenager is bound to love its famous, instagrammable giant clock!

Montmartre Neighborhood

In the 18th arrondisement in northern Paris, you can find the famous Sacre-Coeur Basilica and the winding, hilly roads of Montmartre. During the Belle Epoque, many artists lived in Montmartre, including Claude Monet and Edgar Degas. Today, you can enjoy its picturesque views and collection of art vendors. For a fun night out, we suggest buying tickets to the Moulin Rouge to watch the can-can!

For Food Lovers

Outdoor Markets

Paris has an extensive and delicious network of outdoor food markets. You can find a variety of foods including fresh tomatoes, prepared African cuisine, and flaky chocolate croissants in the streets that house these incredible markets. We recommend checking out the Marché Bastille and the Marché des enfants rouges.

Brunch

Paris’ brunch scene has exploded in recent years. It is officially considered a trendy way to spend your Sunday morning. I love Hollybelly (although the line can be quite long), le Loulou Friendly Diner, and Café Mericourt.

For Nature Lovers

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

Located in the north-eastern 19th arrondissement of Paris, the Parc des Buttes Chaumont is one of the largest green spaces in Paris. It offers stunning views of Montmartre and contains a suspension bridge, caves, and a mini river. Whether you want to curl up with a book, have a picnic, or play soccer, this park offers you a peaceful and bright refuge in a bustling city.

Tuileries Garden

These gardens separate the Louvre from the Place de la Concord in the 1st arrondissement. If you come in the summer, you can enjoy the fun fair or the Ferris wheel. If you want to relax after a long day of walking, come by and take a stroll or sit and admire the intricate landscaping.

For Shopping Lovers

Le Marais

Le Marais is comprised of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements and offers one of the most exciting shopping experiences in Paris. The two main retail streets are the Rue des Francs-Bourgeois and the Rue Vieille du Temple. In addition to flagship stores and retail chains, you can find small boutique and vintage stores here. You can also find innovative concept stores, such as the three story Merci boutique.

Saint-Germain

Located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, Saint-Germain is considered one of the most fashionable and luxurious neighborhoods in the capital. Take a stroll down one of its main streets to enjoy incredible window displays. If department stores are more your thing, you should definitely check out le Bon Marché, located on Rue de Sèvres.

For History Lovers

Place de la Concorde

Located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, la Place de la Concorde was the site of many notable executions during the French Revolution. It was given its name in 1795 by the Directory to mark the end of the turmoil of the Revolution.

Cimitiére du Père Lachaise

The Cimitiére du Père Lachaise is the most famous cemetery in France and one of the most visited sites in Paris. It was created in 1804 and holds the remains of Balzac, Chopin, Oscar Wild, and many other famous histotical figures!

Where to Find the Best Brunch in Paris

Luckily for all of us (and our stomachs), brunch is officially a trend in Paris! If you’re just excited about this as we are, you know there are an overwhelming amount of delicious options to choose from. Here are our favorite places to enjoy eggs, granola, and fresh orange juice on Sunday mornings.

Our Favorite Spots for Brunch in Paris

For a fabulous selection of eggs: Eggs&Co

Take a walk to the 6th arrondissement for a friendly and incredibly satisfying meal. If you’re a fan of eggs in the morning, you won’t be disappointed by the range of benedicts, omelettes, and fried eggs offered by Eggs&Co. Plus, if you have trouble choosing what you want to eat, don’t worry – you can get a salad, eggs, and a giant pancake! Don’t forget to take a walk through the Luxembourg gardens after brunch.

For an Australian inspired brunch affair: Le Loulou

You can find this bright, adorable restaurant in the heart of the Latin Quarter. On Sundays, you there is a food and jewelry street market just across the street. Le Loulou is gluten free and vegetarian friendly, so your whole party will be easily accommodated. I am personally a huge fan of their “famous” avocado club sandwich and their homemade frites.

For a familial ambiance: La Bécane à Gaston

This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Paris for any and every meal. While you won’t get your typical eggs benedict or granola at their brunch, you will be offered delicious cheeses, pastas, vegetables, and meats. Every dish is fresh, homemade, and made with love. Take a trip to the 10th arrondissement to try this gem!

For brunch in an artsy, local neighborhood: Café Mericourt

Café Mericourt is located in the 11th arrondissement in the young Oberkampf neighborhood. Whether you want granola, green eggs, or pancakes, you will find your fix here. After a long night out, their breakfast roll on a brioche bun is sure to satisfy (and hopefully rejuvenate) you. They also have great vegetarian, dairy free, and gluten free options if you are trying to accommodate dietary restrictions.

For an authentic Lebanese dining experience, check out Maison Issa. They have two brunch menu options for 20 and 22 euros. With these menus, you can try an assortment of mezzes and desserts, in addition to eggs or a main dish. This is also a favorite spot among locals if you are looking for a less touristic brunch experience.

Museums

The most amazing museums in the world are in France. Filled with beauty and history, it goes without saying that you must take advantage of your time in Paris and try to explore as many museums as possible. There are all kinds of activities to keep your kids entertained while you explore the museums and take in the city’s rich history, art, and culture. The Van Gogh Starry Night Exhibition is a great place to take your children to experience large as life art that immerses you in Van Gogh’s numerous works of art. Or, take your kids to the Catacombs and experience the resting places of over six million people – a very spooky experience! Of course, no trip would be complete without a trip to the Louvre, where countless pieces of art (and a treasure hunt) wait to engage your family!

Versailles

Palaces

Another must visit are the extravagant castles that cover the landscape of France. Palaces such as Versailles and Vaux-Le-Vicomte are great destinations to spend a day outside of Paris. The grandiose décor and immense gardens are the perfect playground for any age to explore. These palaces are wonderful for full day adventures and night-time journeys alike, as both places have beautiful nighttime experiences, such as Chateau de Vaux-Le-Vicomte’s candlelit gardens or Versailles night light and water shows. These destinations are very easy to reach from Paris by bus, car, or train. Also, if you travel to both of these and need more, you are in luck because there are plenty more beautiful palaces to visit in France.

Parks

Much like the palaces, the parks are a beautiful spot to sit in the gardens, have a picnic, and attempt to wear out your energetic child. Explore the legendary Tuileries and Luxembourg Gardens where there are cute cafes in the summer where you can sit back and relax while your kids explore the various fountains and statues that are peppered throughout the grounds. Explore Les Buttes-Chaumont to enjoy the natural beauty of the park, or go to Bois de Boulogne where you can rent boats for the lake and bicycles to go through the trails. Enjoy a tranquil afternoon or take an adventurous hike through the park.

Amusement Parks

One more option is to take the hour train ride to Disneyland Paris. The two parks include the Hollywood Studios where kids can go to rock out on the Rock’n Roller Coaster, free fall in the Tower of Terror, spend the day in Fantasyland to travel through space on the Space Mountain, or float through the entire world in 5 minutes on the “It’s a Small World” boat ride. You and your kids can meet their favorite Disney characters and watch the exciting parade. With fun themed food and limitless possibilities, Disneyland Paris is sure to be a fan-favorite among your whole family.

There are so many things that you can do with your kids in Paris museums and boat or bus tours; however, if you are looking for a more hands on approach for your vacation, you might not know that there are also many other activities that you may have never even thought of doing. Let us give you some ideas!

Cooking Classes

In the land of culinary arts, it is never too early to learn how to bake delicious Parisian treats. Sign your children up for a cooking class where they will learn to make the perfect macaron or a scrumptious fluffy croissant. You can even join your little ones to learn how to make French menu items including cordon blues or fish croquettes. Other workshops include pizza days where your kids can learn how to make pizza from scratch. Be careful they might love cooking so much that they will want to start cooking your family dinners! Who knows maybe they will be the next Michelin Star chef!

Horse Back Riding

Horseback riding is something I never imagined to do in or around Paris. Little did I know, that I could trot through some of the most relaxing parks right outside of the city center. Take your family for an accompanied ride through some beautiful parks on a nice, sunny day in Paris. The calm atmosphere may be just what you need and not at all what you expected from a busy city like Paris. Roam former hunting grounds on the west part of Paris and live like the Kings of France as you discover lakes, waterfalls, ponds, and brooks.

Row Boats

In these parks, the lakes and ponds also often offer many fun activities for young children. Your kids loved the boat cruise down the Seine, now let them take the wheel (or ore). For just a few euros, you and your family can row up and down the lakes and witness beautiful, natural sights that are untouched by the rest of the city. This activity will pair nicely with a family picnic for a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.

Hot Air Balloons

Do you want to see an amazing aerial view of Paris but do not want to pay the exuberant fees of the Eiffel Tower? Take a trip on a hot air balloon! For just a small price of 12 euros, you can witness the beauty of the city of lights from a hot air balloon in the Parc André Citroën. This will be a great adventure for your little ones and could make for one heck of a Christmas card photo!
