Guided tour behind the scenes from a professional guide

Follow a personal work experience about a guided tour, through the story of Zoya, one of our recommended tourist guide.  You will discover her point of view on sites to visit or why not, getting some travel tips. She is specialized in leading tourists on their trips in and around Paris. Have a look at the following review.

The reason why I chose this job – Zoya’s story

Above all, the reason why I’ve chosen to be a tourist guide is because I like to be in touch with people, sharing my emotions, knowledge, experience, and ideas with them. It’s a rewarding experience helping tourists discover new and exciting things.
I adore my job as it gives me the impression of living through the ages. Sharing these emotions with other people, it’s really rewarding. This job also enriches me, every time I go to the Loire or Provence region it’s like it’s for the first time. I learn new things with my clients, through their reactions and their perceptions of the French history.

The best personal excursion

guided tourChoosing a favorite excursion is a hard job because I have plenty of favorite places. Perhaps over all, I would choose the real wonder Loire Castles excursion. That area is full of history and historical anecdotes which is very appealing and attractive for the clients. You can dwell on the French king’s history and the glamorous court life. There, you have the possibility to share the ancient French life style with a unique experience.

Guided toursTalking about anecdotes, I particularly
remember  a very funny one: we were in Rouen and we were talking about the death of Louis XII, who died of heart attack due to overexertion during sex and suddenly, my client said – what a wonderful death!! There are other things, like during TDV Paris: an American client asked when the French people work, because the shops and cafés were full of people idling and enjoying the sun. I replied that it is a famous typical French life style. He was very impressed and said – That’s the place I would like to die!!

Wine Tours

guided tours

guided toursTalking about guided tour for wines,  I mostly work with the luxury segment of clients and I used to work following the restaurants quoted by “Michelin Guide”. The same thing it is for wine producers selection. In the Bordeaux region I suggest visits to the worlds most well known wine châteaux, (Premier Grand Cru classé B et A) such as Chateau Margaux, Mouton Rotchild, Châteaux de Pavie, Canon, Yquem, Guiraud, Cos Estournel, Angelus, Montrose etc. The same for Champagne region, I mostly do the private visits of Dom Perignon and caves or Krug/Salon degustation. In the village of Cognac, I propose private visits of Louis XIII caves/degustation of 100 year cognac of Louis XIII, accompanied by a lunch at a VIP banquet hall at Remy Martin house. Obviously everything depends on the budget and a clients personal preferences. For instance, I have also had several requests for Blanc Champagne or Extra Brut Champagne. The food tours depend on people’s tastes.

I also have different demands for different nationalities. For instance, the Spanish tourists are keen on history and curious about the minor details; instead the Americans are focused on French life style, fashion, cuisine, wines, traditions, anecdotes and gossip.
